Diner options are picking up in Broad Ripple.

Dad’s Kitchen at 6336 Guilford Ave. plans to open in early November pending permits, said co-owner Hugo Almonte.

Classic breakfast dishes will be served in the morning. The rest of the day will be given over to quesadillas, pastas, salads, hot and cold sandwiches and the like, he said.

The restaurant, using the tag “tastes like home,” is awaiting inspection, said Almonte, who owns Dad’s Kitchen with his brother-in-law.

Cook Almonte said he would pull from his experiences working in the restaurant and nightclub industries in New York. His co-owner has lived in Indianapolis for about 15 years, and Almonte joined him here about a month ago for the project.

“Everything we have on the menu is my own recipe from over 25 years of cooking in New York from casual to fine dining,” said Almonte, who is seeking eight to 10 servers, cooks and busboys.

The name of the restaurant comes from Almonte’s daughters, fans who had long encouraged him to open his own place.

Dad’s Kitchen plans to operate from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m Monday through Thursday, 6 a.m. through 2 a.m. Friday to Saturday and 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
