WINSTON SALEM — If one thing can be said for sure, it is that the absence of Friday night football is becoming apparent and causing what some are calling “football depression.” To help combat the depression, North Carolina Fusion came up with an idea to play 7 v. 7 flag football. NC Fusion is known for their tremendous soccer talent, and their love for sports. When the Fusion heard about football being pushed back, they came up with a plan and put that plan into action.
For the past three weeks, teams from the area have come together to play flag football at BB&T Sports Park. Three local teams have been participation in the action; Starmount, East Wilkes, and Elkin. East Wilkes and Starmount came together to form one team named Team 336, while Elkin formed their own team named the Chatham Blanketeers.
On Oct. 9, the teams took to the field once again to face off against different opponents from the Triad. Elkin played West Forsyth their first game, while Team 336 battled it out against Carver. In the second game, Surry Central and West Stokes played against Team 336, while Carver took on Elkin. The final games of the night had Bishop play Elkin and West Forsyth against Team 336.
Teams will be back in action on Oct. 23 at BB&T Sports Park.
