One-stop early voting begins on Thursday, Oct. 20 and will run through Nov. 5. Hours for early voting will be Oct. 20-21 from 8 a.m. to 7:30p.m., Oct. 25 -28 from 8 a.m. to 7:30 a.m., Nov. 1 -Nov. 4 from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 5 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Election day is Nov. 8 with polls open from 6:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m.
Running unopposed following the Republican primary, is candidate Nick Smitherman for sheriff.
Incumbents Frank Zachary and Chairman Kevin Austin will be on the November ballot to reclaim their seats on the county board along with newcomer Cliff Collins who defeated incumbent Gilbert Hemric in the Republican primary.
Several newcomers will appear on municipal ballots in Boonville, East Bend and Jonesville. Municipal seats for the towns are non-partisan offices.
Town Council Member Anita Darnell has filed for the seat of mayor in Jonesville. Mayor Gene Pardue did not file for re-election. Incumbent Town Council Member Andy Green will be on the ballot for Jonesville, joined by newcomers Scott Darnell and Misty Matthews.
In Boonville, incumbents Justin Phillips and Tim Driver are on the ballot as well as newcomer Greg Wagoner. There are two commissioner seats up for election on the Boonville town board. Mayor Vaughn Benton is running unopposed.
There are three commissioner seats up for election in East Bend as well as the seat of mayor. Incumbents Wanda Johnson, Dawn Hobson and Neal Nichols have filed for reelection. Mayor Archie Hicks is not running for re-election. Commissioner Larry Adams has filed for the seat of mayor as well as newcomer James Dunn.
Justin Somers and Greg Moxley will appear on the November ballot for the two open seats as Soil and Water Conservation Supervisors. Incumbent District 34 DA Tom Horner, along with Yadkin County Clerk of Court Beth Holcomb, Coroner James “Slim” Collins” and Register of Deeds Aric Wilhelm will be on the ballot unopposed.
In State and Federal races, Republican Eddie Settle is on the ballot for the 36th District North Carolina Senate seat. There is no Democrat challenger. Republican Julia C. Howard is on the ballot for the N.C. House of Representatives 77th District, also facing no opposition from the Democrat party.
Virginia Foxx, the long-time incumbent in the U.S. District 5 House of Representatives seat, will face Democrat Kyle Parrish in the November election.
Facing off in the U.S. Senate race for the state will be Republican Ted Budd and Democrat Cheri Beasley. Green Party representative Matthew Hoh and Libertarian Shannon W. Bray will also be on the ballot.
The 2022 ballot also includes several NC Court judge seats.
