Netmarble Launching New King Of Fighters Game Using Blockchain

The Netmarble cryptocurrency rabbit hole goes even deeper, my friends. We recently reported on Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds supporting Blockchain technology with NFTs arriving later this year and how cryptocurrency is ruining all aspects of the game’s balance.

Next, we looked into Netmarble Global’s Youtube channel and discovered a video they posted three days ago, discussing their Blockchain system called Marblex Ecosystem (MBX). Essentially, players can connect their accounts to the MBX wallet to obtain in-game currency that is then converted to game token. Afterward, it can get converted to MBX Link, which acts as a bridge for the currency, concluding with it being converted to MBX proper. To sum it all up, it’s a bunch of nonsense.

Further, this blockchain ecosystem is transferable to real-life transactions, allowing players to theoretically profit. The video then goes on to disturbingly explain how “strong IP power is expected to attract people to the relatively unfamiliar MBX ecosystem.” You can make of that what you will.

The video’s description provides the following information regarding which games currently support Netmarble’s blockchain system, and which forthcoming titles will end up doing so.

Live games under MARBLEX Service:

  • A3:STILL ALIVE
  • Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds

Upcoming games under MARBLEX Service

  • Monster Arena
  • King of Fighters ARENA
  • Let’s Get Rich: Meta World

There is barely any viewable information regarding this upcoming King of Fighters title, which is shown in Netmarble’s Quarter 1 2022 Financial Earnings Results. As far as we could see, this title has no official art yet, with it just using The King of Fighters ALLSTAR key art. In fact, even searching the game in Japanese yields no concrete results, with the majority of hits being the ALLSTAR mobile game.

Several upcoming games are displayed in this PDF alongside which ones are intended to utilize Netmarble’s blockchain system.

These notable IPs interacting with cryptocurrency is undoubtedly troubling, so here’s hoping it all gets nipped in the bud as soon as possible.
