The community-minded women of Ripple of Kindness Orillia Chapter marked International Women’s Day this week by announcing their latest gift of approximately $15,000, which will be directed to benefit RVH’s Rapid Access Addiction Medicine Orillia Clinic.
The fund recipient was chosen following a membership vote, which included 16 other nominated local organizations.
This is the eighth donation for the local giving circle. Since 2019, members have supported a wide range of programs and services including; Mariposa House Hospice, Green Haven Shelter, Building Hope Campaign, Orillia Youth Centre, the Sharing Place Food Centre, Child & Youth Advocacy Centre Simcoe/Muskoka, Couchiching Jubilee House, and now, this latest gift to the RAAM Orillia Clinic.
“We’re beginning to see the impact Ripple is having on our community,” says Amber McGarvey-Moreland, Co-Director of the Orillia Chapter. “When you add up how many community members access these services each day – the number is outstanding.
“With everything going on in the world today, we need to take a moment to pause and consider how we, as individuals and community members, can work together to help one another. This is one way we can help,” said McGarvey-Moreland.
“The Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre Rapid Access Addiction Medicine (RAAM) Program would like to express their gratitude to the Ripple of Kindness Orillia Chapter for its generous donation to our Orillia RAAM location,” said Brian Irving, manager, RVH Addiction Services & North Simcoe Muskoka RAAM Services
“These funds will help ensure individuals within the community will have access to immediate client-centered addiction support in a timely manner to best support their recovery journey,” said Irving.
“There are no limits to the number of women who can join ROK Orillia. For every new member, our impact, the ‘ripple’ grows,” explains co-director, Raquel Ness. “We look forward to growing the membership this year, as we move towards in-person socials and more activities to build our circle of support.”
