Details about Swell Global 2022
Swell Global is Ripple’s yearly flagship event, and its goal is to bring together the world’s most influential voices. This includes experts, influencers, developers, and entrepreneurs from across a number of industries, including crypto, blockchain, financial services, payments, as well as economic policy.
The event will take place at Magazine London, but also in virtual form, and it will offer unmatched networking opportunities and a variety of discussion topics — anything from integrating crypto in order to engage new customers to understand the impact of things like CBDC on financial inclusion around the world.
As mentioned, people will be able to attend it in person or virtually, although the in-person version will come first, and then some sessions will be broadcasted virtually after that.
The company has shared a list of this year’s speakers, including its own CEO, Brad Garlinghouse; Chief Digital Officer of Mastercard, Jorn Lambert; Head of GTS Emerging Payments and Innovation at the Bank of America, Derrick Walton; co-founder of TruaLayer Francesco Simoneschi; Hai Ha CEO, Dianne Nguyen; Binance’s Head of Corporate Development, Mariana De Win Tricolici; Ripple’s Managing Director of Europe, Sendi Young; and many others.
Ripple CEO launches a giveaway
Using the opportunity, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse also posted an announcement of a new giveaway that is accompanying the Swell announcement, meaning — it is taking place right now. The giveaway is offering 100,000,000 XRP, and the funds will be granted to users on a “first come, first served” basis. Garlinghouse noted that users could receive their portion of the gift only once.

🌎To support our community, we have announced 100,000,000 XRP GIVEAWAY

Note: you can receive a gift only once. Hurry up!— Brad Garlinghouse (@penseepis) October 13, 2022
The giveaway comes in celebration of the global power of XRP, and Garlinghouse stated that nothing that the team at Ripple Labs does would have been possible without the community that had the project’s back for years now.
He added that US users are free to participate in the giveaway, as well, which might be a surprise to some, considering that Ripple is still in the middle of its legal battle with the US SEC. The competition itself will last until the 100 million XRP gets distributed.
