Lick to open second location in Broad Ripple

South Broad Ripple is getting a year-round ice cream shop, starting next month.

Lick Ice Cream will serve its hand-crafted, small-batch product from the tiny 1049 East 54th St. space that had housed Wyliepalooza Ice Cream Emporium.

Wyliepalozza closed in late September, after operating in the space since 2019.

Lick, owned by sisters Meredith Kong and Kelly Ryan, took over the lease and will open during the first week of November, Kong said.

What’s on the menu at Lick?

It will scoop flavors such as Earl Grey peppermint and ginger snap lemon curd, and serve ice cream sandwiches, milkshakes, and affogati; similar to its operation at The Garage Food Hall at the Bottleworks District, 906 Carrollton Ave. Both locations will sell pints and half-pints of ice cream.

Wyliepalooza had been operating from the space seasonally, serving Chocolate Shoppe ice cream, a Madison, Wisconsin, brand.

Lick ice cream is made in Indianapolis. The South Broad Ripple shop will eventually dip 12 flavors at a time.

A few bar seats will be available inside along the window of the tiny structure. Outside seating will be available in the spring and the spot’s walk-up order window will be utilized in warm weather.

Flatland Kitchen is designing the interior and a giant ice cream cone will mark the spot outside.

Winter hours will likely be 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. or 7 p.m. weekdays, with later hours during the summer.

Wyliepalaooza sold its Irvington location at 5535 E. Washington St., in October 2021. That shop will relocate to the LVL UP Gaming Lounge, 5515 E. Washington St., later this month.
