Twenty one year old rising artist, Sycco, started her music career off in 2018, with the release of her debut single, “Starboard Square.” Just four years later, she is getting ready to go on tour with Tame Impala and Dua Lipa, and is about to release what very well might be one of the coolest collabs we’ve heard this year. “Ripple,” co-produced by Flume and Chrome Sparks comes out today on Future Classic.
This alternative odyssey sees Sycco’s voice take center stage, cascading over the production with eloquent melodies and emotional sentiment. Picking apart the production, elements of Flume and Chrome Sparks both make themselves known, as nods to their stylistic tendencies shine through the track. Starting with an intimate, synth-based introduction, “Ripple” breaks into an unexpected drum and bass groove, circling back to vocal-led verses.
Sycco shared her thoughts on the track, commenting:
Ripple was really fun and came together super quickly to be honest. I love songs like that. Everything about this song is addictive so it was really easy to create the world around it lyrically. Chrome Sparks and Flume did such a great job on the prod, it’s such a beautiful environment of synths and drums that evoke such a nice feeling of ease but also discomfort at points.
You can stream “Ripple” at the link below, out everywhere via Future Classic. Enjoy!
