Whether it was winning conference titles or capturing conference player of the year accolades, the swimmers from Elkin, East Wilkes and Starmount high schools were will-represented on this past winter’s All-Northwest 1A Conference teams.
Starmount’s Peyton Ponce-de-Leon captured the boy’s swimmer of the year award while Elkin’s Sophie Welborn claimed the girl’s swimmer of the year. Oz Prim was named Coach of the Year.
Elkin led the girls with six all-conference selections while Starmount and East Wilkes collected four and two selections, respectively.
On the boy’s side, the Buckin’ Elks led the way with seven all-conference selections and Starmount had one.
For indoor track and field, East Wilkes finished with nine selections between the boys and girls. Elkin had two selections.
