Skylar Southard
The Wilkes Central girl’s soccer team headlined the Foothills 2A Athletic Conference during its run in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association 2A playoffs.
But Forbush’s Samantha Post collected the league’s top defensive accolade for the Spring 2022 season. University of Arkansas-signee Zoe Susi, of Wilkes Central, earned the Foothills’ Offensive Player of the Year honors.
Matt Matthews, also of Wilkes Central, earned the league’s Coach of the Year honors.
Of the 20 other first-team honorees (not including Post and Susi), the Lady Falcons had four first-team-nods. Wilkes Central led all league teams with six more selections.
For Forbush, Skylar Southard, Emma Cheek, Sarah Owens and Caroline Myers joined Post on the first-team squad.
