Crime Prevention Officer Sharon Diaz is retiring from her position with the Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office.
Diaz has been a familiar face in the county for many years, often operating an educational booth on behalf of the Sheriff’s Office at area festivals and events. Diaz also frequently speaks to church and other groups on issues of crime prevention.
Diaz attended the University of London in England, Palm Beach University, UNCG, Solingua in Spain, and Salem College, graduating Phi Delta Pi with honors.
She worked as an educator and in law enforcement in Pennsylvania, Florida and North Carolina. She received the POPAT Award in law enforcement, plus holds the Advance Certificate in Law Enforcement.
Diaz has traveled extensively in five continents, including, Asia (China), the Mideast, Africa, Europe, North and South Central Americas.
Diaz has served Yadkin County in law enforcement since 2010 and is a Master Deputy. She has thoroughly enjoyed working with the community of Yadkin County in Crime Prevention.
“Crime Prevention is an important piece to preventing crime. It is a key component in serving, protecting, educating and informing the citizens of the community,” Diaz said. “It takes a team effort to keep our communities safe.”
She wishes to thank everyone for helping and supporting the program in the years she has served.
