Opponents of a Greenwich Generation cryptocurrency mining plant in Dresden are now asking U.S. Senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand to take a stand against the plant. They want the senators to put pressure on Governor Kathy Hochul to deny air quality permits for the plant on Seneca Lake.
The state Department of Environmental Conversation last month delayed its time frame for making a decision on the company’s effort to renew its emissions permits.
Opponents say the Greenwich facility could set a precedent for what they say are other energy-draining and polluting plants poised to start operating in the near future.
