Though Dogecoin began as something of a jovial memecoin, it has become incredibly popular over the past few years and is now one of the most widely bought and sold cryptos in the market. With this growing popularity, it’s no surprise that a number of brands are now choosing to adopt Dogecoin as a payment method.
So, which companies in particular allow customers to make payments with their DOGE funds?
1. Twitch
Twitch, one of the world’s most popular live streaming services, has been accepting Dogecoin payments for some time now. In fact, it initially began accepting Dogecoin for tipping back in 2014, before cryptocurrency hit its popularity boom. You can pay for subscriptions and tip creators in the form of Dogecoin, making it easy for you to enjoy your Twitch experience without connecting a traditional payment card.
2. Newegg
In Spring 2021, Newegg announced it would add Dogecoin to its list of accepted cryptocurrencies for payment. Given that Newegg is a big name in the tech market, it’s no surprise that they’ve shown a lot of enthusiasm for cryptocurrency. Along with Dogecoin, Newegg also supports Shiba Inu Coin, Bitcoin, Litecoin, Ethereum, and a number of other crypto payments, so it’s a great company to use if you’re big into crypto spending.
However, Newegg doesn’t accept crypto payments for subscription orders, return labels, gift cards, and a few other buying options. So keep this in mind if you’re looking to spend your Dogecoin on the site.
3. Tesla
It’s safe to say that Tesla’s founder and CEO, Elon Musk, has had a tumultuous relationship with cryptocurrency over the years. The tech billionaire’s involvement in the cryptocurrency space has massively affected the market at certain points, and he has gone back and forth on Tesla’s acceptance of certain coins.
Tesla accepts Dogecoin, and the company lists all eligible Tesla products with a Dogecoin price. Anything that can be bought using Dogecoin will have the crypto’s logo right next to the Order button on the product page.
4. Keys4Coins
Keys4Coins is a great website to use if you want to buy game keys and gift cards using your Dogecoin. The site offers game keys from Steam, Origin, PSN, and a number of other providers. So, regardless of your gaming tastes, you’ll find something for you.
Along with Dogecoin, Keys4Coins also accepts Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, and a number of other popular cryptocurrencies. So, you’re really spoiled for choice when it comes to digital asset payments.
5. AMC Theaters
Looking to catch a movie? You can now do so using your Dogecoin funds. AMC Theaters announced in early 2022 that it would be using BitPay, a cryptocurrency payment service, to support payments in Dogecoin. You can already pay via Dogecoin on the AMC Theaters website, but the company’s app won’t be accepting DOGE payments until mid-April (or possibly a couple of days earlier). AMC is also using BitPay to accept payments in Shiba Inu Coin.
6. GameStop
In December 2021, gaming and electronics merchandiser GameStop announced that it would be accepting payments Dogecoin, along with Shiba Inu Coin, using the cryptocurrency payment processing service Flexa. Flexa’s app, SPEDN, can be used at GameStop stores to pay for products in the form of Dogecoin. People had been urging the company to accept these two cryptos for some time, and online petitions were even started to further push the move.
These petitions pulled in thousands of signatures, and it would seem that they played a role in GameStop’s decision to take on Dogecoin and Shiba Inu Coin as payment methods.
7. airBaltic
Dogecoin isn’t just a solid payment option for physical products. You can also use your DOGE funds to travel. While crypto is by no means a common form of payment for air travel at the moment, some companies are beginning to take it on board, including the Latvian airline airBaltic.
airBaltic has a significant presence in the Baltic countries (Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania), as well as Scandinavia and Finland. It also offers affordable flights elsewhere in Europe, and you can book your next trip with Dogecoin. The airline also accepts payments in the form of Ethereum, Gemini Dollar, Binance USD, Pax Standard Token, and USD Coin.
8. Bitrefill
Bitrefill is your one-stop shop for buying gift cards with crypto. Using this website, you can find all kinds of gift cards for yourself or a loved one, with over 5,000 to choose from. Whether you need a gift card for travel, gaming, clothing, or even grocery shopping, you won’t be disappointed by Bitrefill.
Because many companies still don’t accept Dogecoin and other cryptocurrencies for payment, Bitrefill allows you to buy gift cards that can then be used for traditional payment on a huge range of different sites, including Amazon, Airbnb, Steam, Google Play, and ASOS. So, even if your favorite brand doesn’t yet accept crypto, that doesn’t mean you can’t use it to indirectly do so using Bitrefill.
9. The Dallas Mavericks
In March 2021, the Dallas Mavericks announced that they would be accepting Dogecoin payments for both tickets and merchandise. Like AMC Theatres, the Dallas Mavericks is using BitPay to process payments made in Dogecoin, making it easy for customers to make purchases using their DOGE.
Bitcoin, Gemini Dollar, Ethereum, and a number of other coins are also accepted for payment by the Dallas Mavericks via BitPay.
10. EasyDNS
In Spring 2021, the well-known Canadian ISP EasyDNS announced began supporting Dogecoin payments. In fact, EasyDNS is the first Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) registrar to accept Dogecoin, Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Litecoin payments. So, if you’re looking to grab your own domain name, email server, or DNS, you can now do so with EasyDNS using your Dogecoin funds.
Your Dogecoin Is Now an Open Door
With so many companies now accepting Dogecoin payments, you no longer have to pay for products and services using traditional tender. Whether you’re looking for games, entertainment, transport, or even gift cards, your Dogecoin is now a viable payment method that you can use for all kinds of purchases.
The businesses on our list are just a selection of those offering Dogecoin, so it’s worth looking to see if your favorite brand does likewise next time you shop.
