Crypto giant Coinbase launched a free pilot program Tuesday to let customers in Mexico cash out digital currencies. It’s made possible through a partnership with Seattle-based remittance company Remitly, which went public last year. The service is free until March 31; Coinbase will then charge a “nominal” fee it says is cheaper than traditional cross border payment solutions. “The announcement is also significant in that crypto has long been touted as a way to improve global money transfers but has yet to gain major traction among everyday citizens,” Decrypt reported.
