Sister Wives’ Christine Brown Talks Ripple Effect Of Leaving Kody

“Sister Wives” star Christine Brown recently opened up in an episode of the show about what led to her decision to leave her husband of 25 years, Kody Brown, and how it would affect people.

PEOPLE shared that Christine knew making the decision would have an emotional impact on some people, but she had to do what was best for her, as far as God was okay with it.

On Sunday’s episode, she spoke candidly to the host, Sukanya Krishnan, in a personal conversation, about how heartbroken she felt about her choice.

Christine Brown Opens Up About Her Decision To Leave Kody Brown

In a previous report by The Blast, 49-year-old Christine Brown publicized her separation from her polygamous marriage to Kody last November, after several years of growing apart.

She has spoken up a few times about her decision to leave the marriage, but she talked about the effects of her decision on Sunday, 6 February 2022.

Christine said it was not fun to break people’s hearts even though she knew the sad decision to leave Kody would do precisely that. In her words:

“But I knew I was making a decision that would break hearts and it tore me apart. And it was super, super sad.”

The sister-wife revealed that during the time of her marriage, at one point, she felt like the ‘basement wife’ who chose to put herself in a weaker spot.

She had a choice but being the type that always wants people to be happy and feel loved endangered most of her decisions as a wife.

People always came first in her decisions, which led to her putting Kody’s and the other wives’ needs first. Eventually, she got tired of being a peacemaker and told Kody she couldn’t continue.

Christine also revealed that her religious beliefs changed and became different from the family’s. The Browns are a polygamous bunch, and as members of the Apostolic United Brethren, such practice was acceptable.

Being a former church member, she knew that polygamous women weren’t trapped in a marriage as they could leave if it wasn’t working. However, such women had to get through the proper procedures.

Robyn Brown, another sister-wife, had a bit to say regarding Christine’s separation. The 43-year-old wished the divorcée kept trying to make the marriage work as she always wanted the former couple’s relationship to be strong.

The younger Brown wife felt like Christine wasn’t really divorced. She said, “Christine says they’re divorced, and technically, in my head, they’re not, because their marriage was done by church officials, they haven’t granted them a divorce.”

The 49-Year-Old Feels Free And Independent Following Separation

After Christine’s divorce from the patriarch of the Brown family, they both had no intimacy between themselves, and she felt like he had no place in her room.

The Blast previously reported that the reality star felt discomfort with being close to her ex-husband’s belongings after their split. This led her to pack his belongings out of her room and into the garage.

Being separated from Kody was initially a sad ordeal as he showed no interest in her anymore. However, she later felt independent without him and ended the marriage. She admitted:

“I feel like I can take a breath and get myself grounded and get my head in a good place and just rest for a bit.”

Kody and Christine’s separation was not surprising to devoted viewers of the “Sister Wives” show, as the former couple has had marital issues for about 12 years.

Since they both share kids, they would continue to be present as committed parents in each other’s lives even though Kody wasn’t entirely supportive when they were still together.

The TLC Star’s Divorce Brews Marital Scandals In The Brown Family

Following the split between Christine and Kody, much drama happened in the Brown family, which revolved around the hostility between Kody and his now three wives; Meri, Robyn, and Janelle.

The Blast previously shared conflicts between the wives and Kody, but his relationship with Robyn seemed closer.

Speculations of the couple’s close relationship came to light after several allegations about Robyn’s contribution to the strict COVID-19 rules enforced by Kody. Robyn denied the accusations.

Eventually, viewers noticed that the show became more like a division of stories whereby one was about the head of the family with Robyn, while the other was about him with the rest of the family.

During the holidays, the Brown family didn’t have a close relationship as Kody’s intimacy with Robyn negatively affected his relationship with the other family members.

Rather than depending on Kody as the family’s breadwinner, the Brown children sought support from their mothers and older siblings.
