The Yadkin County Health and Human Services Agency has issued a new update regarding the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic as it is effecting Yadkin County. As of Feb. 3 there are 1,327 active reported cases of the illness with 16 patients hospitalized.
Since the start of the pandemic, the county has had a total of 10,152 reported positive cases with 8,727 patients recovered. Ninety-eight Yadkin residents have reportedly died from the illness.
More than 600 cases of COVID-19 have been reported during the last week, according to the Agency. Below are the reported case numbers over the last week:
• 1/26: 125
• 1/27: 120
• 1/28: 107
• 1/31: 131
• 2/1: 138
• 2/2: 75
The continued increase of cases has caused issues for the agency in regard to contact tracing.
“Due to the increase in COVID-19 cases over these past four weeks, this has resulted in delays in our ability to contact new cases,” states a press release from the Yadkin County Health and Human Services Agency.
The agency said those who have contracted COVID-19 should follow the steps below:
— Please follow the CDC guidance listed below
— Notify your own close contacts
— Notify your employer and/or school, childcare center, etc.
— If you provided a cellphone number and/or email to your testing provider, you may receive an automated message from NC COVID Community Team.
Updated CDC Isolation Guidelines:
• If you have tested positive (regardless of vaccination status) or have symptoms:
— Days 1 – 5 – stay home and remain separated from others in the home, if possible.
— Day 6-10 – If you have not symptoms or symptoms are resolving, you can leave your home while wearing a well-fitting mask around others
• If you have a fever, continue to stay home until fever resolves – 24 hours fever-free without the use of medication
• If you have been exposed to COVID-19 and vaccination status is up-to-date (see below for revised definition) it is recommended:
o Monitor for symptoms
o Test on day 5
o Continue to wear a well-fitting mask for 10 days
o If you develop symptoms and/or test positive, follow isolation protocol
• If you have been exposed to COVID-19 and vaccination status is not up-to-date:
— Day 1-5 – stay home and remain separated from others in the home, if possible
— Testing is recommended on day 5
— Day 6-10 – If you have not developed symptoms or tested positive, you can leave your home while wearing a well-fitting mask around others
At-home Testing:
• If you complete a test that provides results at home, the COVID-19 Community Team will not be informed of your result or attempt to contact you.
• If you complete a test at home that is sent to a lab, the team will be informed of your result and will attempt to reach you by phone, text, or email.
• If you test positive on an at-home test, we recommend you contact your primary care provider for guidance – this may include additional testing.
Vaccination status:
A person is considered up-to-date if:
• It is within 5 months of completing their initial Pfizer or Moderna series;
• Within 2 months of receiving an initial Johnson & Johnson dose; or
• Have received a booster of Pfizer or Moderna within the last 5 months
