Reopening of Fiji’s international borders is very encouraging for Port Denarau Marina (PDM), says it’s chief executive officer Cynthia Rasch.
Ms Rasch said the ripple effect of the borders reopening was definitely felt at the PDM.
“It’s a massive improvement and a lot better than what it used to be in the past few months,” she said.
Ms Rasch said business in the weekend would shoot up as they were usually more busier.
“I think definitely around 50 to 60 per cent of people involved in the tourism sector are back which is evident here at PDM as well with a number of charters booked out and busier restaurants.”
She said although it was still a low season for them, however, the large number of tourists arriving because of the borders reopening would help improve business at PDM.
“It is not going to come to pre-COV- ID levels anytime quickly as it will take some time to get there and everyone is very cautiously optimistic about what happens in the few weeks.”
