EAST BEND — A juvenile found in possession of a firearm on school property at Forbush Middle School is now facing charges as is the student’s mother.
The incident occurred on Dec. 14 and a press release from the Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office said the school administration immediately notified the school resource officer and the firearm was seized.
Following an investigation the Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office charged the juvenile with possessing a firearm on educational property and possession of a firearm by a minor.
During the investigation it was learned that the juvenile found the firearm at his mother’s residence. On Dec. 16, the Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office arrested the juvenile’s mother, Amanda Nicole Ward, age 31, of Yadkinville. Ward was charged with one misdemeanor count of fail to store firearm to protect minor. Ward was released after signing a written promise to appear in Yadkin County Court on Jan. 12, 2022.
