Freshly released Intel Core i5-12600K easily beats it’s own similarly priced Ryzen 5 5600X counterpart by up to 10% in some triple A gaming titles. Nonetheless, CPU mining is also becoming a crucial benchmark for hungry crypto miners of Monero and Raptoreum respectively. Currently, AMD’s Ryzen 9 lineup are the Kings of CPU mining in terms of efficiency and profitability, thanks to their exceptionally large L3 cache sizes.
Tech Youtuber in GPU and CPU mining by name Dizzy Mining has successfully tested Intel’s latest 12th gen Core i5-12600K in running RandomX algorithm acquiring Monero privacy coin. Results are not amazing due to lower hashrate of 6771 H/s could be mined with i5-12600K in Monero coin performance. Unfortunately, Intel’s 10nm wonderful process node still couldn’t beat TSMC’s 7nm built chip in terms hashes per second mining Monero. Not only nanometer matters the most but the L3 cache of CPU plays bigger role here.
Surprisingly, Ryzen 5 5600X manages to pull off 7200 H/s of Monero hashrate on average enhanced by CL14 3200MHz memory kit. The secret sauce here is large 32MB L3 cache which manipulates RandomX algorithm well. In a nutshell, effective CPU mining is concluded at getting bigger L3 cache CPUs such as Ryzen 9 5900X or 5950X respectively.
