Ontology Network, a “high-performance,” open-source blockchain or distributed ledger tech (DLT)-enabled platform focused on digital identity and data, reveals that it’s introducing a set of “limited edition” Ontology Avatars.
Each Avatar will be minted as a non-fungible token (NFT) and will reportedly feature a “unique” set of attributes. Users may claim their NFTs now and join the Ontology team in the metaverse.
While commenting on what Ontology Avatars are, the developers explained that they’re a collection of 3,333 “unique” NFTs. Each Avatar is “randomly generated and can be tied to an ONT ID that represents the owner in the metaverse,” the Ontology team noted.
They also shared:
“Each Ontology Avatar contains at least 7 attributes: a piece for an Explorer’s face type, skin tone, hair, eyes, noses, ears, and mouth. Some Avatars might come with some extra surprises such as glasses, earrings, facial hair, or headgear.”
Addressing a question about why Ontology Avatars are special, the developers wrote in a blog post that each Ontology Avatar is “unique.” By claiming an avatar, the avatar “becomes tied to your decentralized identity via your ONT ID.”
As mentioned in the announcement:
“Your avatar can be used to represent yourself in the Web 3.0 metaverse. In the future, you may also be able to trade your avatar or bridge it to other blockchains and developers could build other NFTs to interact with Ontology Avatars.”
Going on to explain how users may get an Ontology Avatar, the developers noted that Ontology Avatars may be claimed via ONTO. Claiming an avatar is “completely free (minus the gas fee),” the announcement clarified. (Note: Each ONT ID is “eligible to claim only one NFT”.)
Beginning on September 10, 2021, users may follow Ontology and ONTO Wallet on Twitter and join their Telegram groups. You can also post on microblogging site Twitter with the hashtag #OntologyAvatar “showing your Ontology Avatar, and submit the Google form for the chance to win a share of 500 ONG.”
As noted in the update, participants who “meet the requirements and submit the Google form will qualify for the draw to win ONG.” Among them, “a total of 30 participants will then be randomly selected to receive an equal share of 300 of ONG,” the announcement confirmed.
As stated in the update, the “most liked and retweeted tweets will be granted 100 ONG.” Second and third place tweets will “each receive 50 ONG,” the update noted.
This offer began on September 10, 13:00 and it will end on September 13, 13:00 (UTC)
As previously reported, ONTO is the “first” truly decentralized, cross-chain wallet, enabling clients to “securely manage their identities, data, and digital assets.” ONTO users are able to manage their crypto-assets (including NFTs), “perform cross-chain swaps, keep up-to-date with the latest industry latest developments and events via the ONTO news feed, and enjoy access to a variety of dApps.”
With ONTO Wallet, users are able to create an ONT ID, which is described as a “decentralized digital identity that fully protects their private data through an encryption algorithm and enables one-click multi-chain wallet address creation and management.””
Users across the globe may download ONTO Wallet through onto.app or their mobile app store. Desktop users may install ONTO Web Wallet for Google Chrome.
As covered, Ontology is “a high performance, open source blockchain specializing in digital identity and data.” Ontology’s unique infrastructure “supports robust cross-chain collaboration and Layer 2 scalability, offering businesses the flexibility to design a blockchain that suits their needs.”
With a suite of decentralized identity and data sharing protocols “to enhance speed, security, and trust, Ontology’s features include ONT ID, a mobile digital ID application and DID used throughout the ecosystem, and DDXF, a decentralized data exchange, and collaboration framework.”
