CrossTower has appointed Cory Thackeray as Chief Financial Officer. Thackeray brings over 25 years of experience building globally recognized fund administrators to his new position. In his new role, Thackeray will be responsible for managing CrossTower’s finance functions and capital structure. Prior to joining CrossTower, Thackeray was Senior Managing Director and Co-Head of Hedge Funds at State Street Alternative Investment Solutions. Before that, he was Global Head of Goldman Sachs Administration Service.
Brett Redfearn, Coinbase’s VP of Capital Markets, has resigned after only four months on the job. Redfearn left the crypto exchange at the end of July, the WSJ reported Monday, citing a Coinbase spokesperson. Redfearn was most recently the director of the United States Central Intelligence Agency. Prior to that, he worked for 13 years at JPMorgan Chase & Co in the SEC’s trading and markets section.
Cboe Global Markets has announced the passing of Wayne Luthringshausen, retired chairman and CEO of the Options Clearing Corporation (OCC). Cboe will honor Luthringshausen with a moment of silence on its trading floor before the market open on Monday, August 16.
Exegy has appointed Craig Schachter as Chief Revenue Officer. In this newly created leadership role, Schachter will be responsible for setting and leading the organization’s global go-to-market strategy and execution. Schachter comes to Exegy with over 25 years of experience as a sales leader in global software, data, and service companies. Prior to joining Exegy, Schachter was responsible for relationship management across SS&C Technologies’ Financial Services Group.
Brian Brooks has quit as the US CEO of crypto exchange Binance just three months into the job, citing “differences over strategic direction”. Brooks revealed the move on Twitter, adding that he wishes his former colleagues “much success”.
Tim Sullivan has agreed to join B. Riley Financial as Head of Fixed Income with B. Riley Securities. He joins from Imperial Capital where he was a President responsible for leading the investment bank’s sales, trading and research business. Sullivan has over 25 years of industry experience and has held various senior positions in fixed income, including as Head of High Yield Sales & Trading at Jefferies Group and as Managing Director in Credit Trading at UBS.
David Newns, subject to Finma approval, will take over the leadership of the SIX Digital Exchange (SDX) on October 6, 2021. Newns currently serves as Global Head of Global Link Execution Services at State Street. Tim Grant, who joined as Head of SDX in March 2020, will stand down.
Charles H. Noski will retire as Chairman and a member of Wells Fargo’s Board of Directors. Noski has stepped down as Chairman, and he will remain as a director until he retires on September 30, 2021, to facilitate the transition of the Chairman role. Noski has served as a Director since June 2019 and as chairman since March 2020. Noski previously served as chair of the board’s Audit Committee and, until today, as chair of its Governance and Nominating Committee. The board has elected Steven D. Black as Chairman, effective immediately. Black has over 45 years of financial services experience with some of the largest financial institutions in the world and has served as co-CEO of Bregal Investments, a private equity firm, since September 2012. The board has also appointed Wayne M. Hewett to serve as a member and as chair of the Governance and Nominating Committee.
CoinFund has hired Christopher Perkins as Managing Partner and President. He joins from Citigroup where he was global co-Head of the futures, clearing and foreign-exchange prime brokerage businesses.
Christian Kromann will succeed Klaus Holse as Chief Executive Officer of SimCorp, effective September 02, 2021. Kromann has served as SimCorp Chief Operating Officer and member of the Executive Management Board since August 2019.
Tony Barral has joined CODA Markets as a Managing Director of Sales, with responsibility for client relationship management for CODA’s broker business, as well as sales and business development. He brings to CODA close to 25 years of institutional equities expertise. Most recently, Barral was Head of Broker Dealer relationships at Citi, and prior that role, he spent more than a decade at Morgan Stanley where he led broker dealer sales for the Americas.
Credit Suisse has hired Orazio Tarda as co-Head of Financial Technology. Tarda arrives at Credit Suisse after a 16-year career at HSBC, where he most recently served as global head of fintech overseeing M&A and client advisory services. In his new position, Tarda will share the role with the bank’s global head of technology, Brian Gudofsky, with a local reporting line to Credit Suisse Italy CEO Federico Imbert. In addition, the Board of Credit Suisse has nominated Axel Lehmann and Juan Colombas for election to the Board at an EGM of Credit Suisse Group AG to be held on October 1, 2021. Subject to their elections, the Board intends to appoint Axel Lehmann as Chair of the Risk Committee, succeeding Richard Meddings, who has held this role on an ad interim basis in addition to being Chair of the Audit Committee. Lehmann was most recently a member of the Group Executive Board of UBS Group. Colombas has been a non-executive director and member of the Audit and Risk Committees at ING Group since 2020.
