Tournament organizer ESL Gaming announced a partnership Monday with global cryptocurrency platform Coinbase. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Under the terms of the deal, Coinbase will become the “official crypto exchange partner” for select ESL events in 2021 and 2022, beginning with IEM Cologne 2021. Other events include the ESL Pro Tour circuit for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, StarCraft II, and Warcraft III
ESL and Coinbase will also work together to create integrations in broadcasts, social media, digital media, content, and more.
ESL joins TSM, who signed a naming rights deal with cryptocurrency company FTX to become TSM FTX. TSM FTX has found the new name to be a bit of a challenge, particularly while participating in Riot titles such as League of Legends and Valorant because the stakeholder won’t allow it to use its new name in those competitions or to promote its sponsor during broadcasts.
