Summer is finally here and that means fresh local produce will soon be in high demand. The Yadkin Farmers Market, 1141 Tennessee St., in Yadkinville is already offering locally grown and made items for customers.
“We are local farmers, feeding local families — the freshest produce you can buy,” said Autumn Hunter of Hunter Family Farm in Boonville. Hunter is among the vendors at this year’s market.
The market has become a favorite spot for locals to shop during the summer and early fall with a variety of produce from greens to tomatoes, fruit, eggs, garden plants and much more.
The market will also feature some live music this year as well.
“The Yadkin Farmers Market Vendors offer a lot of goods as they come in season,” said Ashley Beard of the Yadkin County Cooperative Extension Agency.
Vendors this year include: Hunter Farms Family Produce featuring beef and pork, eggs, succulents, variety of garden plants; Edgehill Farms offering salad greens and plants; Myers Mushrooms, Footville Farm offering tomatoes, lettuce, onions, strawberries; Roots Homeschool group with baked goods, aloe plants, and a variety of homemade products. Other vendors are offering strawberries, bird houses and bird feeders. New vendors coming soon to the market will include R&J Farms, Purple Martins Farm and Emerald Egg Farm. Over the next few months look for blueberries, salad greens, cantaloupe, cucumbers, okra, peppers, potatoes, squash, cauliflower, purple hull peas and field peas at the market.
Yadkin Farmers Market hours are 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays at the market shelter behind Yadkinville town park, 1141 Tennessee St.
