Bob Weir and Wolf Bros rolled out official video featuring “Ripple” from the group’s New Year’s Eve 2020 livestream concert at TRI Studios in San Rafael, California. “Ripple” kicked off the evening’s encore which ended with “Touch Of Grey”.
Guitarist Bob Weir led an expanded Wolf Bros lineup on December 31, 2020 that saw co-founding members bassist Don Was and drummer Jay Lane augmented by keyboardist Jeff Chimenti and pedal steel wiz Greg Leisz. Portions of the livestream concert included the Wolf Pack, a five-piece horn and string section consisting of Alex Kelly, Brian Switzer, Adam Theis, Mads Tolling and Sheldon Brown.
Jerry Garcia and Robert Hunter co-wrote “Ripple” for inclusion on the Grateful Dead’s American Beauty album in 1970. The Grateful Dead debuted the song live at Fillmore West in San Francisco on August 18, 1970. “Ripple” was shelved from 1971 – 1980 and then just three versions followed through the last GD performance in 1988.
