On Monday the Jonesville Town Council approved a contract with the North Carolina Rural Water Association to offer an apprenticeship training program to fill a vacancy at the town’s water plant.
Carolyn Bynum of the NC Rural Water Association gave a detailed presentation on the program.
“It seems like a great opportunity for us,” said Town Manager Michael Pardue.
Wendy Thompson, representing the Friends of the Jonesville Library, and Librarian Jennifer Rogers gave a short presentation on the proposed design plan for the expansion of the Jonesville Library building, which is located at 112 N. Swaim Street.
Rogers also noted that Library staff is excited about offering hybrid programs this summer with both in-person and virtual options for participants.
Among the other items discussed during Monday’s meeting, Pardue noted that the town has contracted with a nursery to plant around 5,200 native tree species in the willow family to stabilize the stream bank on the Jonesville Greenway, which sustained major damage due to flooding late last year.
The Jonesville Town Council will have a budget workshop at 7 p.m. on April 15. The next regular scheduled meeting of the council will be at 7 p.m. on May 10.
