Charges filed in equipment battery theft

EAST BEND — An East Bend man is facing charges related to the theft of batteries from heavy equipment. The Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office received a report of the the theft on April 20. According to the report, several batteries were taken from equipment belonging to Smith-Rowe LLC that was located in the Donnaha Park.

After an investigation, authorities alleged that the batteries were taken by Christopher William Miller, age 33. Subsequently, warrants were issued for Miller for three counts of breaking and entering of a motor vehicle, two counts of felony larceny and one count of attempted felony larceny.

Miller was served with the outstanding warrants on April 21 and placed under a $10,000 dollar secure bond. Miller’s next scheduled court appearance is May 19.
