BOONVILLE — Starmount improved to 1-1 with a 14-7 win over Alleghany, Friday night in Boonville. The Rams took a 7-0 half time lead behind a two-yard touchdown run by Kaden Pardue. Starmount extended their lead to 14-0 when T.J. Mahan burst through the Trojan defense for a 28-yard touchdown scamper. Kicker Jimmy Angulo converted both extra points. Alleghany cut the lead the 14-7 late in the fourth quarter on a 7-yard touchdown run by Alex Woodel.
The Rams were led by senior running back Sterlin Holbrook with 19 carries for 145 yards on the ground. Quarterback Alex Armstrong connected on 4 of 7 passes for 53 yards.
Starmount will travel next week to Ronda to face East Wilkes.
