Boonville to create duty lounge for officers

BOONVILLE — Boonville town officials discussed how to use additional CARES funds as well as ideas to create a break/lounge area for its police officers during its March 2 meeting. A credit card machine to expedite utility payments as well as an outdoor mailbox for commissioners to retrieve town-related correspondence were purchased as part of CARES funding. The board also plans to use CARES funding to purchase three dual-band VIPER radios for the police department. VIPER radios will allow Boonville to stay in contact with other area agencies during emergencies.

The Boonville Board also discussed and approved $2,000 in spending to purchase a couch, new range and refrigerator in order to create a duty lounge area for officers and other town staff.
