LIVINGSTON, NJ — Back-to-back snowstorms caused ripples in the Livingston Public School District, which held all-online classes on Monday.
Livingston school administrators posted the following advisory on Sunday, as the township saw its second winter storm in a week:
“Due to the late end of today’s snow storm, and the likelihood of significant icy conditions in the morning, Livingston Public Schools will need to move to all-virtual instruction tomorrow, Monday, Feb. 8. School facilities will be closed, and all instruction will be virtual. An announcement will be made tomorrow morning regarding the status of after school activities.”
“We intend to return to our in-person hybrid learning format on Tuesday, Feb. 9,” administrators added.
Block said:
“I would like to begin by recognizing our custodians and maintenance team for the amazing work they did this week moving nearly two feet of snow from our facilities so that we could open schools again yesterday. They worked incredibly hard, and we all appreciate their efforts in this monumental snow storm. We have one snow day remaining in the calendar, and we will use it judiciously since there is still all of February and March ahead of us, and we may already be looking at another weather event this coming Monday.”
The superintendent continued:
“The snow delayed beginning the in-person aspect of our new two cohort schedule at Mount Pleasant Middle, Heritage, and Livingston High School. Nonetheless, over the past two days we have been so excited to see our secondary students come back in force. Please, if you signed up to return to school in-person for the second semester, we want you to be in school and will be looking forward to seeing you next week. It was great to see more students filling our secondary schools over the last two days, and we hope that we will see everyone who indicated that they planned to return to in-person learning on their assigned cohort days next week.”
