Boy Scout Troops in Yadkin County as well as Elkin and Alleghany County will be collecting food donations this weekend to benefit area food banks as part the annual Scouting for Food project. Bags were dropped at local households on Feb. 6 for residents to fill with non-perishable food items to be left on porches and stoops for pick-up prior to 9 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 13.
For those who did not receive a food bag and wish to donate, Scouts will be on hand at the following locations from 9 a.m. to 12 noon on Feb. 13 to collect non-perishable food items: Elkin Farmers Market corner of E. Market and N. Bridge Streets in Downtown Elkin, Yadkin Christian Ministries at 117 Woodlyn Drive in Yadkinville and Solid Rock Food Closet at 71 Womble Street in Sparta.
“There is a desperate need for food during the current pandemic. Please help feed the hungry in our area,” event organizers said.
