Fans gather at Union Jack Pub in Broad Ripple to watch the U.S. play Portugal in FIFA World Cup action on June 22, 2012. The game ended in a 2-2 draw.
One of Broad Ripple’s most popular pubs is making its way to Hamilton County.
Nearly four-decade-old Union Jack Pub is opening a new location in Westfield, owner Chelsey Wetzel announced Tuesday on the pub’s Facebook page.
The pub in Westfield will be located downtown at 110 S. Union St. in the former Grand Junction Brewing Co. spot.
“We could not be more thrilled,” Wetzel said, “to be a part of this growing community.”
Wetzel said an opening date can be expected for late summer or early fall.
“Jay and I have been working on this dream for about 18 months now and we found the perfect new location in November 2019. We planned to open on May 1, 2020, but for obvious reasons the opening was delayed,” the Facebook post states. “The new opening date is still not firm as we are continuing to monitor the state of the world and the safety of opening.”
The family-friendly pub in Broad Ripple is known for hosting soccer games and FIFA World Cup watch parties, and the menu features a variety of appetizers, sandwiches, wraps, hamburgers and specialty pizzas.
The new restaurant will be located within walking distance of Westfield’s 6-acre Grand Junction Plaza.
City officials broke ground on the $35 million park and plaza last year and it is set to feature festival gathering places, a great lawn, fountains, an amphitheater equipped to host a symphony orchestra, a play area, an outdoor ice skating rink, nature areas, and a cafe.
